Laysan AerialYou are invited to a presentation by Jim Waddington, a friend of the Sangha, on what he and his wife, Cindy, experienced performing conservation work on Laysan Island in 2009 and 2010. (Laysan Island is 808 nautical miles northwest of Honolulu and is about 1 mile by 1.5 miles in size.)

Jim and Cindy Waddington have been involved in volunteer conservation work with the Sierra Club Oahu Group, Nature Conservancy, US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, and the State Dept. of Land and Natural Resources.

Laysan is the most pristine of the field camps and the work is more varied than elsewhere. In addition, the living conditions are the most primitive of the field stations, and how we lived day to day is usually interesting to any audience even if they are not wildlife enthusiasts! – Jim Waddington
