The Hawaii Betsuin Choir performs “May Peace Prevail” at the 2015 Hawaii Buddhist Council Bodhi Day Service held on December 6 at Hawaii Betsuin.
The lyrics of “May Peace Prevail” come from a poem by Mrs. Carrie Kawamoto of Mililani Hongwanji, selected as the winning entry in Shinran Shonin’s 750th Memorial Gatha Lyrics Contest. The lyrics were set to music by Professor Takeo Kudo of the UH Music Department.
The Betsuin Choir was directed by Megan Pascual and accompanied on piano by Francis Okano. (Megan is a co-director of the choir; the other co-director is Mari Murakami.)
