Huaka‘i to the Wai‘anae Coast
from Pōka‘i Bay to Mākua Valley with a visit to Wai‘anae Hongwanji

Join us for a visit to cultural sites guided by Uncle Glen Kila, an educator, cultural practitioner, lifelong Wai‘anae resident, and founder of Marae Ha‘a Koa.
Lunch will be bentos from Tamura’s at Waianae Hongwanji, where we’ll also get to meet with Roland Matsuda, caretaker of the Japanese Cemetery.
Bus transportation is available, leaving from Hawai‘i Betsuin at 8 a.m., returning around 2 p.m. (must make a reservation).
Cost
- Bus transport + bento lunch from Tamura’s:
$25 per person - Bento lunch only (non-riders):
$15 per person

The funds will be used to cover bento, the bus rental, and to provide an honorarium for Glen Kila and the Wai‘anae Hongwanji.
