Pride Parade
Saturday, October 19
Magic Island to Kapi‘olani Park
Meet up Magic Island at 3 p.m.
Parade starts at 4 p.m.
Hongwanji will be represented again in the Pride Parade this year! Come join Honolulu and Oahu members of the Hongwanji community and friends as we walk in the Pride Parade, expressing the All-Embracing, All-Accepting nature of our faith tradition.
This year the parade switches to a late afternoon event instead of a morning event. We gather for the parade itself at 3 p.m. on October 19 at Magic Island to be together when the parade begins at 4 p.m. Look for rainbow Hongwanji wisteria symbols! The parade goes through Waikiki to Kapiolani Park.
There is one passenger vehicle leaving Betsuin early to be in the parade and carry a few riders. In general, please make your own plan to get to Magic Island. Ideas include taking the #6 bus from Hawaii Betsuin, arranging carpools with drop offs at Magic Island, using the paid parking at Ala Moana Center, going early and finding a parking spot at Magic Island, leaving a car at Kapi‘olani Park, or some combination of the above.
Bring water bottles, hat & sunscreen (though we should have some shade on the route), and snacks as needed.

Check out that Pride link as seen on one of the signs… it goes to a collection of resources on the statewide Honpa Hongwanji website: honpahi.link/pride
