  Rev. Sugahara has been the Rimban of the Buddhist Church of Sacramento since 2023.

  Originally from a temple family in Shimane Prefecture in Japan, Rev. Sugahara graduated with a BA from Musashino University in Kyoto, Japan, and holds an MA in Human Studies from the same institution. He attended the IMOP (International Ministerial Orientation Program) in 2009 at the Institute of Buddhist Studies in Berkeley, California.

  Besides Buddhist Church of Sacramento, he has also worked as a minister the Buddhist Churches of America’s Florin Buddhist Temple and Oregon Buddhist Temple.
