About Obon
Obon season is a time to celebrate all that we have as a living beings. It gives us a chance to express our gratitude to our ancestors, teachers and friends, to show appreciation to them and to express how fortunate we are to be able to listen to the Buddha’s teachings. We celebrate the opportunity that we have to follow the teachings and to embrace them in our daily lives.
About Our Speaker
This year, we are fortunate to have Rev. Kazunori Takahashi as our Hawaii Betsuin Obon service speaker. Rev. Takahashi is originally from Yamaguchi prefecture. He majored in Buddhist Studies and graduated from Ryukoku University in 2007. He moved to Hawaii in 2007 and served at Hilo Hongwanji, Kapaa Hongwanji and is currently working as a resident minister of Lihue Hongwanji. He received his Tokudo ordination in 2003 and Kyoshi status in 2005. Please don’t miss this great opportunity to hear the Dharma.
