Jikoen Hongwanji holds a special service to commemorate Honpa Hongwanji’s 130th anniversary in Hawaii. The service will also “weave together Okinawan culture and Buddhist teachings to express our collective gratitude for the people who gave so much to the Uchinanchu community.”

Parking at Kapalama School.

More information is available on the HHMH website at https://hongwanjihawaii.com/blog/2019/10/01/jikoen-event-okinawan-connection-100619/.

Since Jikoen’s service is at 9 a.m., you may be able to attend the Jikoen service and still make most of Hawaii Betsuin’s 10 a.m. service. (Note that there will be an after-service program at Jikoen on the history of Okinawan-owned restaurants in Hawaii.)
