bodhi tree leaf detail

Leaves of the bodhi tree at Foster Botanical garden, a descendent of the tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment.

The Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin’s Bodhi Day service. The speaker is Reverend Yuika Hasebe. (The service is a combined service. There will be no 9:00 AM Dharma School Service.)

Bodhi Day comemmorates Siddhartha Gautama’s attainment of enlightenment at the age of 35 as he meditated under the bodhi tree, thus becoming Sakyamuni Buddha.
