You are cordially invited to join Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin for candlelight evenings of sutra chanting and quiet sitting on four “first Thursdays” starting September 7, 2023.

A few words from Acting Chief Minister, Rev. Yuika Hasebe:

Chanting of Sutra is an expression of our appreciation to the Great Compassion which is always there to embrace us all. However, our busy everyday schedule gives us no time to sit down and reflect. Let’s have a peaceful and serene moment in front of Amida Buddha. We hope this chanting experience gives you a time of peace and joy, and new opportunities to encounter the Dharma.

7:00 p.m. Temple lights off & sutra chanting
7:20 p.m. Refreshments next door in the Lounge
8:00 p.m. Close
Note: You are welcome to bring your yoga mat or a cushion if you would like to sit down on floor. Please refrain from laying down on the floor. After the sutra, the temple will remain open until 8:00PM.
