Manulani Aluli Meyer

Manulani Aluli Meyer is a scholar-practitioner coming home after 25 years in Hilo and 5 years in Aotearoa, New Zealand. She is world-wide Indigenous scholar dedicated to expanding views of knowledge to better address the needs of our time. She earned her doctorate (Harvard, 1998) on the topic of Hawaiian epistemology (Philosophy of Knowledge) and has published on the topic in a variety of locations. She is now the Konohiki of Kūlana o Kapolei – a Hawaiian Place of Learning at UHWO. Her book, Ho’oulu: Our Time of Becoming – Hawaiian Epistemology and Early Writings, is available at Nā Mea Hawaiʻi.

The working title of Dr. Meyer’s talk is, “Ku’u Aina Aloha: Hawaiian Buddhism.” After the service, please join us for dialogue with Dr. Meyer to further explore the themes in her talk.
