November Service Notes

    The annual Eitaikyo Service is generally known as the Sangha Memorial Service in Hawaii. The purpose of observing this major temple service is to thank the deceased members. Our speaker is Rev. Jan Youth, a retired minister of Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii and former minister at Hawaii Betsuin.

    Note the service time of 9:30 a.m.; this is a combined service with both Dharma School families and attendees of the adult, English-language service.

    About Our Guest Speaker: Rev. Kuniyuki had a career as a university instructor and computer consultant from 1977-1994 before becoming a Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii minister. “Rev. Kevin” received his second-level (Kyoshi) ordination in Kyoto in 1996 and first served as an associate minister at Hawaii Betsuin. He was soon assigned to the 4-Temple Council on the Big Island as a resident minister, going on to serve in the same capacity at Wahiawa Hongwanji. In 2012, he was assigned as Director of the Buddhist Study Center & Office of Buddhist Education, a position he had held until retiring in 2021.
