“Let’s Ko” Everyday Buddhist Classes

1st and 3rd Tuesdays in the Hawaii Betsuin Lounge and on Zoom

Everyday Buddhist is a set of 36 video courses in Buddhism and Jodo Shinshu developed at Orange County Buddhist Church in California. Hawaii Betsuin has partnered with Everyday Buddhist to be able to show course content during our class sessions.

In-person participants gather in the Lounge for a “Let’s Ko” / Everyday Buddhist class session.

We gather in the Lounge and on Zoom (“hybrid”) from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays to watch and discuss 1-3 short videos from a given course. As of summer 2026, we had completed 9 of the 36 courses.

We supplement the videos with course materials such as slides and podcasts (audio of two people talking about the content) generated with the assistance of AI.

Our “Let’s Ko” classes have proved a fun, informative, and sustainable way to offer Buddhism classes at Hawaii Betsuin while building a sangha within a sangha of fellow travelers and learners. (Ko can mean a Buddhist study group.)

To inquire about registering for the class: Please email class facilitator David Atcheson, a Hawaii Betsuin board member (or see him after a 9:30 a.m. Sunday Service). You may use this email address: ebfacilitator@hawaiibetsuin.org

Hawaii Betsuin is a temple affiliate of Everday Buddhist. If you subscribe independently for unlimited access to their course offerings, please use this link. Hawaii Betsuin will receive a portion of your subscription fee.
