Rev. Shigenori Makino will guide us through the essentials of Jodo Shinshu and help us explore the heart of Shinran Shonin’s teaching.

Dates and Time: Every Saturday morning at 10 a.m., starting 10/3/2026 (for 9 weeks)

Place: Annex Temple

No fee. Donation to the temple is appreciated.

About the Teacher

Rev. Shigenori Makino was born in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, Japan.

He studied Jodo Shinsh Buddhism at Ryukoku University, where he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He later earned a Master of Science degree in psychology from Winona State University.

Rev. Makino has served at several Hongwanji temples in Japan, Hawaii, and Canada, including Sapporo Betsuin, Wailuku Hongwanji, Kailua Hongwanji, Moilili Hongwanji, Hawaii Betsuin as Rimban, and Toronto Buddhist Church. He also supported the establishment of the Project Dana program.

He has also received training in pastoral care and has served as a counselor and chaplain in various communities.
