After a combined 9:30 a.m. service on Sunday, January 26, the Hawaii Betsuin held its annual membership meeting in the hondo.

Members approved the minutes of the previous membership meeting and the financial report, and outgoing president Jerry Tamamoto delivered a few remarks about the year.

The 2014-2015 officers and board members were installed in a ceremony led by Rimban Tatsuo Muneto.

The New Year’s Party followed immediately after in the social hall. The party featured a silent auction, a delicious buffet lunch, a presentation of a check for $1500 from Boy Scout troop 49, presentation of the Asoka Awards, and a varied entertainment program.

The gathering also served as an opportunity to say “Mahalo & Aloha” to Rev. Bert Sumikawa who will be transferring to Moiliili Hongwanji in February.
