Offerings begin with the annual Summer Session, this year featuring Dr. Jeff Wilson on “Mindfulness & Buddhism in America.”
Other course titles include “Buddhist Insights on Current Social Issues,” “Understanding Shin Buddhism: First Steps,” and “Pure Land Buddhism & the Shin Path: Introduction to Jodo Shinshu.” One series entitled, “Happy Hour (Respite in Buddhist Happiness),” is offered the last Friday of the month July-October and offers Buddhist “talk story” with cold refreshments.
Courses meet from four to seven times, mostly at the Buddhist Study Center near UH Manoa. The “Understanding Shin Buddhism: First Steps” series is offered once at Kailua Hongwanji and once at Hawaii Betsuin (Pali Highway).
Course offerings are listed on the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii website, both on the Dharma Light Classes page and in the HHMH events calendar. See also the brochure and registration form.
