On Saturday, October 15, 2016, Muslim women from Manoa Mosque participated in the Honolulu United Buddhist Women’s Association 2016 Joint Education / General Membership Meeting with the theme, “Reach Out – Make Connections.”
Attendees learned about misconceptions people have about Muslims. A panel of women from Manoa Mosque shared their personal spiritual paths and their experiences being a Muslim in Hawaii. In the afternoon, attendees shared tea and desserts prepared by the women of the mosque and the Hongwanji. Then there was a cultural exchange. The Muslim women demonstrated how to put on the hijab and also applied henna on some of BWA members. BWA members taught origami and furoshiki.
