About Project Dana

Project Dana was started in 1989 at the Moiliili Hongwanji by Shimeji Kanazawa and Rose Nakamura. Today Project Dana has evolved and grown into an interfaith coalition of 30 or more churches and temples throughout Hawaii providing a variety of services to the frail elderly and disabled to ensure their well-being, independence, and dignity in an environment of their choice. Project Dana has trained many hundreds of volunteers over the years to play a supportive and critical role in the lives of these elders.
