Donor Drive for Paul Goodman
Young Man of Jewish (Ashkenzai) and Japanese Descent in Urgent Need of Bone Marrow Transplant

Honolulu – Be The Match Hawaii continues its search to find a donor for Paul Goodman who lives in Orange County, California. Paul is of Japanese and Jewish (Ashkenazi) descent, which makes it even more difficult to find a bone marrow donor.

Hawaii is one of the most culturally diverse communities on the planet. But did you know that ONLY 41% of Asian Pacific Islanders are able to find a bone marrow donor? And that all people of mixed heritage face similar challenges.

Paul is among thousands of patients with life-threatening blood diseases and cancers nationwide who are searching for that miracle donor match. Paul’s leukemia has come back after remission, and now a bone marrow transplant is his only hope. Please support for Paul and his ‘ohana by adding your name to the Hawaii donor registry.

Potential donors must be between the ages of 18 to 44, meet our health guidelines and be willing to donate to anyone in need of a bone marrow or blood stem-cell transplant. The online registration process includes a short form to complete along with a mouth/cheek swab sample.

You can save a life by registering today!

You can register online anytime at no cost: join.bethematch.org/Aloha4Paul or text Aloha4Paul to 61474

You can also support Be The Match Hawai’i by volunteering or hosting a live event. To help, please contact Be The Match Hawaii at 808-547-6154 or by visiting www.bethematchhawaii.org.

Since 1989, Be The Match Hawai’i has helped facilitate more than 450 life-saving stem cell or bone marrow transplants to patients with leukemia and other life-threatening blood diseases. Over 73,000 donors are registered in Hawaii though more are needed. Since matches are typically found within the same ethnic background, Hawaii donors offer hope to patients in Hawaii and all over the world.
