Posted March 16, 2020 and updated March 21

In-person meetings, cultural classes, activities, and events at Hawaii Betsuin are suspended March 20 through April 30May 15, 2020.

This includes those of the temple, affiliates, and non-temple groups. During this period, Sunday services will be livestreamed only (available to watch online live or on-demand later) on the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii’s YouTube channel.

The temple business office, ministers’ office, Columbarium, and regular volunteer support will continue. Any rescheduling of memorial services will be at the discretion of the ministers and families.

This action was taken by the Executive Committee with feedback from the ministers and members of the sangha. More information and outreach is forthcoming, particularly to groups with reservations for temple facilities.

Thank you in advance for your understanding as we make difficult decisions that take into account the health and best interests of our sangha and the wider community. Please be assured that the temple is planning for continued outreach and sharing of the Dharma during this period.
