A special August edition of the monthly newsletter from the Kyodan (the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii) features the Ceremony of Transmitting the Jodo Shinshu Tradition (Hoto Keisho Shiki in Japanese) on June 5 and 6, 2014 at Honzan Hongwanji in Kyoto, Japan.

The ceremony marked the retirement of His Eminence Monshu Koshin Ohtani and the succession of His Eminence Shinmon Kojun Ohtani to the position of Monshu.

The newsletter includes messages from both men as well as a message from Bishop Eric Matsumoto.
