Numata Conference in Buddhist Studies: Violence, Nonviolence, and Japanese Religions: Past, Present, and FuturePapers from the the 2014 Numata Conference in Buddhist Studies are now available for download and recorded lectures will soon be broadcast on ‘Ōlelo Community Media.

The conference, held March 20-21 at the East-West Center, focused on the theme “Violence, Nonviolence, and Japanese Religions: Past, Present, and Future.” For two days, twenty-one presenters engaged the local and the scholarly community in lively discussions, followed by the screening of two exceptional movies related to this topic.

The event was cosponsored by the Department of Religion at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and by the Buddhist Study Center, an organization of the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai‘i.
