The Betsuin will observe Ho-onko services on Saturday, January 11 (7 p.m.) and Sunday, January 12 (9:30 a.m.), 2014. The Ho-onko service is the memorial service for Shinran Shonin, founder of Jodo Shinshu, who passed away 750 years ago. At Ho-onko we recall and appreciate Shinran Shonin and listen to the Nembutsu teachings.
Our guest speaker will be the Reverend Jeffery Soga of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. For more about Reverend Soga, see the front page of the December 2013 Goji newsletter.
