large kadomatsu on NY Eve 2019

A large kadomatsu on display for New Year’s Eve 2019. The Scouts are taking orders for various sizes, from 12″ to 24″.

Hawaii Betsuin’s Honpa Hongwanji Boy Scout Troop 49 is taking orders for kadomatsu both online and via paper forms through November 30, 2022. Pickup will be Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Annex Temple’s Social Hall.

Order Kadomatsu Online

Here is what the troop would like you to know:

  • Pre-orders only. (No walk-ups on pickup day.)
  • Pick up only on 12/18 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the temple.
  • Deadline to place a pre-order is November 30.
  • The paper forms are intended for Sunday service attendees, especially those who would prefer not to order online. The forms are available at Sunday services and in the Betsuin business office. The scouts encourage everyone who can order online to do so for efficiency.
  • The amounts shown when ordering online are suggested donation amounts only.

About Kadomatsu

Kadomatsu is a traditional Japanese decoration often placed in front of the houses or at the entrance of a building or store during the holiday season. Three pieces of bamboo are cut diagonally, in three different lengths, are tied together with pine branches by a straw rope.
