SERVICES CANCELED: Hawaii Betsuin’s Sunday services for August 16, 2026, are canceled. Hawaii Betsuin leadership made the decision after assessing Saturday impacts and intermittent power glitches. Efforts to notify the sangha are underway.

Update: 11 a.m. Saturday, August 15

The combined Hatsubon service originally scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, has been postponed to September (date to be determined).

2 p.m. Friday, August 14

Tropical Cyclone Lala is expected to bring heavy rain to Kauai, Niihau, and Oahu Saturday evening through late Sunday night. As the situation may continue to change, please monitor the latest weather conditions and official advisories carefully.

At this time, Hawaii Betsuin will remain open through the August 15 – 16 weekend. There are numerous events scheduled during this time period. Depending on the actual conditions in your area, please use your best judgment in attending any scheduled services, meetings, or other temple activities.

Please understand that, depending on conditions, Hawaii Betsuin may need to close. If we do, we will try our best to inform as many people as we can.
