During Earth Month 2019 at Hawaii Betsuin, we presented a Green Fair and an Earth Day Service on two successive Sundays. Two Earth-Day-themed talks delivered and recorded on those days are now available on demand. You may play them directly below or find them on our English-language Dharma Talks page.

At the 9:30 a.m. Service before our Green Fair on Sunday, April 14, Rev. Blayne Higa delivered both children’s and adult talks entitled, “The Value of Sharing.”

You may listen to Rev. Higa’s talk here. (The adult message begins at timepoint 9:46 following the singing of the gatha “Arigatai.”)

At the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, April 21, Roshi Michael Kieran of the Palolo Zen Center delivered a dharma talk for adults entitled “Living by Vow: The Pure Land and Our Ecological Crisis.”

You may listen to Roshi Kieran’s talk here:

Rev. Jan Youth also delivered an Earth Day message at the Dharma School Service on April 21 in the Annex Temple. Unfortunately, we do not have a recording of that message. Only messages from English-language services in the main hall (hondo) are routinely recorded for later broadcast.
