Submitted by Rev. Masanari Yamagishi

Hi everyone. I hope this message finds you well. How are you doing?

May has started. I am looking forward to seeing you again soon at the temple in summer although we face the issue of the coronavirus, COVID-19 for now. I know the issue is one of the sufferings for us in this world. However, Buddhism gives us insight into our lives, and teaches us not to escape, but to understand. Even in the middle of suffering, we are able to appreciate life. The Buddha and the Dharma guide us by enabling us to understand our true nature, and we can improve and develop our life. It means to recite the Nembutsu, Namo-Amida-Butsu in our daily life.

I hope you stay healthy and safe.

Thank you.

Dharmagrams are short messages by Hawaii Betsuin ministers. The series was initiated during the coronavirus outbreak of 2020 as one way to continue sharing the Dharma during the stay-at-home period.
