Hawaii Betsuin has traditionally held its Bon Dance the last Friday and Saturday evenings of June, one of the first events of the Bon season. The decision was recently made to cancel our in-person Bon Dance for 2020 due to ongoing concerns and uncertainty around the coronavirus outbreak. Ideas for online Bon Odori experiences are under discussion.
In related news, Hawaii Betsuin has extended the suspension of all in-person services and activities through May 31, consistent with Governor Ige’s order. Any temple reopening will be made in consultation with the office of the Bishop.
Sunday 10 a.m. services continue on the HHMH YouTube channel. Hope you are able to tune in.
