Dear Hawaii Betsuin Ohana and Friends,
We hope that this letter finds you safe and healthy in your homes. As we continue to remain vigilant to prevent the spread of COVID-19, know that you are not alone in your efforts, and together, we can overcome our challenges.
Obon Season is here although it will not be the same as in years past. The Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin would like to offer you the opportunity to memorialize your loved ones through the sponsoring of a traditional paper lantern, which will be hung in the main temple for the months of July and August. Your donations will help to support the temple to cover a portion of our budgeted income, which was lost due to the COVID-19 shutdown. We wish to honor your departed loved one(s) and celebrate the Obon season with the lanterns. If you are interested in sponsoring a lantern(s), please see the detailed information and order form in back of this letter.
We are forever grateful to our wonderful members and friends, who generously support the temple. May you continue to stay healthy during this critical period and may Amida’s compassion embrace you and your family.
In Gassho,
Rimban Toyokazu Hagio, Chief Minister
Stacy Bradshaw, Executive Director
