Buddhism teaches us that the present is the most important. We should always be mindful how every moment is precious and unrepeatable.

Due to the COVID 19, we must all stay at home. We cannot do the things we are used to doing. But we can do many things during this time. For example, it is a wonderful opportunity to read the books you never had time to read before. Also, it is a great time to learn to play the ukulele, the guitar, or the piano. Or, you can try to cook new recipes or bake cookies for the family.

Amida Buddha’s untiring compassion is always reaching out to each of us every moment of our lives. So let us treasure each day especially in these challenging times. Let us be open to new experiences with gratitude and awareness, and show kindness each day.

Dharmagrams are short messages by Hawaii Betsuin ministers. The series was initiated during the coronavirus outbreak of 2020 as one way to continue sharing the Dharma during the stay-at-home period.
